Crafting Basics
The crafting system lets you combine ingredients from your inventory to produce new items — everything from bandages and food to weapons and drug equipment.
Opening the Crafting Menu
- Press F4 to open the main PERP menu.
- Navigate to the Crafting tab.
- Browse available recipes — only recipes you have the skills for are shown.
- Click a recipe to see its ingredients and requirements.
- Click Craft to produce the item.
Ingredients
Every recipe requires specific items to be in your inventory. Ingredients are consumed when you craft. If you don't have enough of an ingredient, the craft will be rejected and nothing is lost.
Skill Requirements
Some recipes require a minimum level in a specific skill. The most common crafting skill is Crafting (Level 2). Some advanced recipes may require higher levels or even specific gene levels.
You earn Crafting XP each time you successfully craft an item. See Crafting Skills for the full XP breakdown.
Environmental Requirements
Some recipes require you to be near a specific source:
- Heat Source — a campfire, furnace, or similar heated entity within ~150 units.
- Water Source — a water container or nearby water within ~150 units.
- Saw Horse — the woodworking saw horse entity, for wood-based crafting.
See Heat & Water Sources for a full list of what counts.
World Mixing
Certain items (like drug products) cannot be crafted from the menu. Instead, you must place the ingredients as physical items in the world near each other. The game will automatically detect the recipe and produce the result. These are labeled "Mix in world" in the crafting menu.
Crafted Item Ownership
Items you craft are dropped into the world as a physical entity. Pick them up by pressing E on them, which adds them to your inventory. Crafted items in the world can be picked up by anyone — craft in a safe location.
