Server Rules

Rules Last updated by Staff

By playing on GmodPlayground you agree to follow these rules. Ignorance of the rules is not an accepted excuse. Staff decisions are final — if you disagree, appeal on our Discord.

Zero tolerance: Cheating, hacking, or exploiting game bugs for an unfair advantage results in a permanent ban, no exceptions.

General Conduct

Respect all players and staff — harassment, hate speech, and targeted abuse are not tolerated.
No spamming in chat, voice, or with props/entities.
No mic spam — soundboards, loud music, or excessive noise through voice is not allowed.
No metagaming — using information your character shouldn't know (Discord, OOC chat) to influence in-game actions.
Keep OOC out of IC — don't reference real-world events or out-of-character information while roleplaying.
English only in OOC / global chat.

Random Deathmatch (RDM)

RDM is killing another player without a valid, roleplay-based reason. This includes:

Shooting someone because you feel like it
Killing someone for bumping into you
Mass RDM (killing multiple players) — results in an immediate and extended ban

Valid reasons to kill: Self-defense (they shot first), active police arrest gone wrong, drug lab raid with warning, or a mugging gone wrong where the victim fights back.

Random Arrest (RDA)

Police officers may only arrest players who are wanted or have committed a visible crime. Arresting someone without cause is RDA and punishable by a ban.

You cannot arrest someone just for running from you
You cannot arrest someone for being armed unless a relevant law is active
Always issue a verbal warning before arresting for minor crimes

Prop Rules

No prop blocking — you may not seal off public areas, spawn points, or block doorways other players need to use.
No prop surfing — don't use props to reach areas you couldn't reach on foot.
No prop killing — spawning props to hurt or kill players is an immediate ban.
No prop spam — spawning large numbers of props to crash or lag the server is an immediate ban.
Remove your props when you leave a property you no longer own.

Building & Property Rules

You must own a door to build inside or immediately outside a property.
Bases must have at least one raid-able entrance (a lockpickable door).
Do not build in the middle of public roads or block vehicle traffic.
Fading doors require a button that is accessible from both sides or a keypad with a valid code.

New Life Rule (NLR)

When you die, your character loses all memory of the events that led to their death. See the full NLR article for details.

Combat Logging

Disconnecting from the server to avoid an arrest, being killed, or losing a fight is not allowed. You must remain on the server until the roleplay situation concludes. Purposeful disconnects during active RP situations will be treated as combat logging and result in a ban.

Staff Authority

Follow staff instructions — arguing in-game is not productive. Use the appeals process.
Do not impersonate staff or claim to have admin powers you do not have.
If you believe a staff member has acted unfairly, report it on the Discord.
